Qantas and Vodafone have formed a partnership that allows customers to earn Qantas Points through their Vodafone mobile plans.

Qantas Frequent Flyers can earn up to 15,000 Qantas Points by joining, renewing or upgrading to a new Qantas Business Red plan with Vodafone.

In addition, businesses that are members of Qantas' business rewards program, Acquire, can earn Acquire points by signing up to a Qantas Business Red plan with Vodafone.

Vodafone director of sales Ben McIntosh says the partnership allows customers to gain more value from their mobile plans.

“Vodafone is determined to ensure our plans offer the best value and the inclusions that matter most to customers,” McIntosh says.

“The opportunity to earn Qantas Points, which can be redeemed on travel, shopping and a host of other exciting offerings, gives consumers another reason to choose Vodafone and rewards our existing customers for their loyalty.”

Qantas Loyalty CEO Lesley Grant says both businesses are passionate about “helping people stay connected”.

“It demonstrates our commitment to helping our members reach rewards more quickly by providing them with more opportunities to earn Qantas Points for everyday use,” Grant says.

“If they use their Qantas Points-earning credit card to pay for their phone plan, they can also earn points on their card at the same time.

“In a competitive market, being able to reward customers for choosing their product or service and remaining loyal to their brand is an attractive proposition.”

It follows the announcement that Vodafone will be offering customers with $5 'Roaming on Red' plans who travel to New Zealand free roaming until 1 December 2016.

Vodafone Red customers will continue to have $5 roaming when travelling to other countries.
