PepsiCo Australia has appointed PHD to its $26.2 million media planning and buying account following a pitch against Mindshare.

The appointment covers all PepsiCo businesses in Australia, including beverages Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Gatorade, Mountain Dew and snackfoods Smith's, Doritos, Red Rock Deli, Grain Waves and Sakata.

The appointment follows PepsiCo's global alignment with Omnicom agencies. EightyK's was the incumbent agency on the account.

Bellamy Hayden will remain the media strategy agency for PepsiCo's beverage brands in Australia.

PepsiCo spent $26.2 million on main media advertising in the year to May 2010, up from $23.6 million for the previous year, according to Nielsen.
