Ogilvy has been appointed to the Optus roster to handle its small and medium business sector.

The appointment follows an overhaul of the Optus roster earlier this year, which saw several agencies axed and 72andSunny added.

M&C Saatchi and The Works previously worked on the small and medium business account.

Five agencies now make up the Optus roster, including Emotive, Big Red, 72andSunny, Ogilvy and M&C Saatchi's Re.

While still a large roster, Optus has been consolidating the agencies it works with over the last 12 months as it takes a chunk of its creative duties in-house.

Ogilvy will be tasked with raising awareness of Optus as an alternative network for Australian SMBs.

“Optus SMB is constantly evolving in the way it works with SMBs to deliver solutions that are tailored to meet their needs. Effectively communicating this to the SMB audience is a vital part of success," Optus SMB director of strategy, marketing and innovation Cheryl Pearl says.

“Ogilvy understood this and we’re looking forward to working closely with the team to show SMBs how we can help them build a better business.”

In 2016, Optus' small business push was fronted by Ian Thorpe and Mark Wahlberg, and created by With Collective, which no longer works with the telco.
