Omnicom's programmatic agency director heads for CommBank's trading desk

Accuen's director of display advertising, and ex-senior digital trader, Alexis Spurgeon, has left the business in favour of a role at CommBank, AdNews understands.

Sydney-based Spurgeon has worked at Omnicom's programmatic agency Accuen, which is headed up by GM ANZ Paul Shepherd, since 2013. Accuen is Omnicom Media Group’s programmatic media offering and spans across more than 60 countries. Prior to Accuen Spurgeon was at PubMatic.

As revealed by AdNews earlier this month, Australia's largest bank, CommBank, is in the process of establishing an in-house programmatic trading desk.

The business has been busy working to establish a small team, which will have responsibility for all programmatic display and video activity. It is thought Spurgeon will be one of the lead minds working to create the new offering.

Ikon Communications remains CommBank’s strategic digital agency and will still work closely with the in-house team.

Earlier this month general manager brand, sponsorship and marketing operations at CommBank, Stuart Tucker, said Ikon fully supports the move and is working with CommBank to ensure a smooth transition.
