Omnicom has appointed Darren Stein as the CEO of its data and technology business Annalect for Australia and New Zealand, following his departure from IPG Mediabrands' Cadreon late last year.

Stein joins Annalect with more than 18 years’ experience across analytics, research, data, tech and marketing strategy. His focus will be on further aligning and leveraging products, services and resources, as well as growth, specifically in the data and technology consulting space.

Before joining Annalect, Stein held the position of CEO of Cadreon, the data, tech, analytics and programmatic arm of IPG Mediabrands.

“Bringing Darren on board continues our investment into Annalect, and underscores our commitment to provide tech and data solutions, that are seamlessly linked to executional capabilities," Omnicom ANZ CEO Peter Horgan said.

"His wealth of experience across analytics, data and technology as well as working within global organisations on both the corporate (Optus and News Corp) and media (IPG) side make him a great fit for the team and an asset for our clients.”

At Cadreon, Stein is replaced by current managing director for Australia, Patrick Darcy, who steps into the CEO role after leading the team's product division.

Darcy has spearheaded Cadreon Australia’s efforts to "redefine" the way clients think about and use data and technology to grow their businesses.

Darcy will focus on the national development and management of IPG’s programmatic offering, which provides data-driven marketing solutions on behalf of its partners – UM, Initiative and Reprise – as well as its clients.

“Our deliberate investment in data at both a network and agency level means that our advertising technology unit in Cadreon is both advanced and highly effective, with a secured channel of growth. I’m confident that Pat will help shape the future of that offering with Cadreon Australia." IPG Mediabrands APAC CEO Leigh Terry said.
