Nine Entertainment chief operating officer and chief financial officer Simon Kelly has announced he will be leaving the business.

Kelly has worked as part of the Nine executive team since 2012 and has been notable for his role in the sale of ACP and Nine Live, its IPO and the creation of its video strategy.

Previously, Kelly was CEO of the DealsDirect Group and held a number of roles at Goodman Fielder, including CFO.

He currently also holds non-executive director roles at the Australian News Channel, which owns and operates Sky News and of Nine and Fairfax Media's joint venture streaming business, Stan.

Nine confirmed it is looking for Kelly's replacement.

Nine CEO Hugh Marks thanked Kelly for his time at Nine including helping to build “a balance sheet that will enable us to maximise future opportunities”.

Kelly's departure is effective 31 May.

The move follows the appointment of Marks as the broadcaster’s chief executive following the departure of David Gyngell in November.

Nine recently hosted its annual upfronts highlighting streaming, a programmatic push and new channels as key on the agenda as it undergoes a “complete reset” strategy for 2016.
