Whybin promotes Lennox Gray to GM
MELBOURNE: Whybin\TBWA\Tequila Melbourne has promoted group account director Nicole Lennox Gray to the role of the  general manager. As general manager, Lennox Gray will focus on the continued development of the digital offering, as Tequila goes from strength to strength in Melbourne. She will also be tasked with building on TBWA client relationships on an international scale. Former general manager at Whybin\TBWA\Tequila Melbourne, David Clements, will assume the position of business director having held the position for over a decade.
Fairfax Digital appoints Vic sales manager
MELBOURNE: Fairfax Digital has appointed Melissa Verner as Victorian State Sales Manager. Verner joins Fairfax from MCM Entertainment where she was sales and marketing manager for radio and digital. She has also held senior sales positions at Austereo, DMG and ARN.
MCN Melb creates strategic planning role
MELBOURNE: Multi Channel Network (MCN) has promoted Melbourne group account manager Melina Augoustakis to the newly created role of Melbourne strategic planning director. She will report to Melbourne sales director Ben Sumpter. Augoustakis’ appointment is designed to bolster MCN’s senior presence in the Melbourne market, allowing greater market coverage.
Foxtel drops ACCC Telstra application
SYDNEY: Foxtel has withdrawn its application to the ACCC seeking approval to use Telstra's BigPond as the exclusive provider for its new internet download service. The original proposal - to offer downloadable content to its subscribers via the internet - would now potentially be available to all broadband providers, not just Telstra BigPond.
Cathay Pacific to offer mobile and broadband in-flight
HONG KONG: Cathay Pacific has announced plans to fit out its fleet of aircraft with full broadband internet access and a mobile phone service. Dubbed exConnect, the system provided by Panasonic Avionics will have speeds of up to 50 megabytes on aircraft by early 2012. Flights will also have a call and data service for mobile phones.
