Freeview channels score high summer ratings
OzTAm figures
indicate that Freeview's five primary channels and ten digital
multi-channels delivered 1,493 of the top 1,500 TV programs over the
summer period. Compared with the 2009/10 period, Freeview channels
increased their audience by 1.7 share points.
Expedia drops US and Japan for local SEO management
Online travel aggregator Expedia.com.au has switched SEO management from Japan to partner with Experian Hitwise in Australia. Additionally, Expedia's New Zealand site has dropped its US SEO management to work with Australia's Experian office. Experian's SEO services will provide Expedia Australia and New Zealand with insights into search engine rankings by keyword, competitor ranking analysis and benchmarking against competitors. A team of 10 dedicated Experian SEO analysts will work on the Expedia account.
Soup grows team
Word-of-mouth marketing firm Soup has appointed former BMF group account director, Jayne Andrews, as client services and community director. The agency has also hired former Virgin Mobile national account manager, Kathleen Gunther, as conversations catalyst, and former Buzzer campaign manager, Ester Groenendaal, as conversations manager.
US e-commerce up 11% in Q4
US e-commerce spending reached
US$43.4 billion in Q4 2010, up 11% on the same period in
2009. This growth rate represented the fifth consecutive quarter of
positive year-on-year growth. The findings from comScore credited
improved sentiment in holiday season spending, together with heavy
retailer discounting and promotions. The top-performing online product
categories were computer software (excl.PC games), consumer
electronics, books & magazines (excl. digital downloads),
computers/peripherals/PDAs, and toys & hobbies.
MTV launches UGC ad campaign
MTV has launched a new campaign called the MTV Bumper Builder, which allows users to create and star in animated advertisements for the television channel. MTV will select the best ads to be aired at 5pm each weekday. Created by Deepend, the idea was originally created for Nickelodeon to enable viewers to create animated avatars for the online space which could be branded and broadcast on television.
