Apple TV to hit Australian market
Apple has announced details and pricing models for its redesigned Apple TV, unveiled last week by chief executive Steve Jobs in San Francisco. The new model is 80% smaller than the original model and will retail for $129 in Australia. The device will allow users to stream photos, videos and music from a computer and Apple products. HD movies can be rented from $4.99 and SD movies from $3.99, but no episodic television is available for rent or purchase. The new model will be release in Australia this month.

Fremantle launches MasterChef Live
FremantleMedia has announced the extension of the MasterChef franchise with a live event to be launched in Sydney this December. The event will be produced by Brand Events, under licence from FremantleMedia Enterprises, as the representatives of the MasterChef Australia brand.

Lighthouse Foundation in call for entries
The Lighthouse Foundation has issued a call for entries from the creative community to support homeless youth as part of its 7th Annual Art Auction on 2 December 2010. The auction will feature a diverse range of works donated by established and emerging artists, designers and creative directors at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art.

Nine Network appoints QLD MD
Nine Network has appointed Kylie Blucher to the position of managing director for Channel Nine Queensland. Blucher steps up from her current role as QTQ programming and marketing manager, having held senior management roles within the Nine Network for more than 15 years.

Adconion hires audience director
Independent audience network Adconion has appointed Nick Bennett to the role of media director. He has been charged with managing the Australian publisher team and will work closely with Adconion's commercial partners. He was previously media director at emitch, where he worked within the financial services, automotive, retail, FMCG and entertainment categories.

ARN appoints sales director
Australian Radio Network (ARN) has appointed Peter Colosimo to the role of Sydney agency sales director. Most recently, Colosimo was general sales manager for Mix 106.5. He begins the new role in October.
