MCM Media appoints sales manager
MELBOURNE: Suzi Sotiroski has joined MCM Media as Victorian sales manager. With more than 10 years of media sales experience, Sotiroski joins from Austereo where she was agency account manager. Before joining Austereo in 2006, she spent five years as agency account manager at Australian Radio Network (ARN) working across the Classic Hits and Mix FM brands.
Inklink hires business director
MELBOURNE: Inlink Media has appointed Dan Howlett as Victorian business director, a newly created role which will see him heading up the Melbourne-based media sales group. Howlett has made the move from EyeCorp where he worked across the Eye Shop and Eye Drive brands. Inlink delivers real-time news programming and advertising via digital displays installed in elevators and elevator waiting areas of office towers.
National Foods teams with Soup
SYDNEY: Word-of-mouth marketing agency Soup has commenced work on five projects for National Foods, following the agency's work on a campaign for National Foods' brand Le Rice. Soup will be working on projects for the brands Yoplait forme, Yoplait Petit Miam, Yoplait fruche and Yoplait Le Rice.
The Observatory Hotel appoints Popcorn Experiential
SYDNEY: The Observatory Hotel has appointed experiential marketing agency, Popcorn Experiential, whose clients include ING Direct, Galliano and Banana Boat Sunscreen. The first project will involve promoting the hotel's five star restaurant Galileo. A campaign will be launched on 16 July in Martin Place, and will use a four-metre wine bottle installation and a giveaway of 500 bottles of wine.
Poor showing in NZ newspaper awards
AUCKLAND: The Newspaper Advertising Bureau (NAB) Ad of the Month award will not be awarded after the judges decided the level of creativity did not merit recoginition. The June Ad of the Month judges included Dave King from M&C Saatchi, Kim Pick at Rapp and Janelle Herrick from 99. The $10,000 Newspaper Ad of the Year winner will be revealed on July 15 at Hopetoun Alpha in Auckland.
Mellor promoted to Adcorp CEO
SYDNEY: Adcorp has promoted Matthew Mellor to chief executive officer. Mellor was appointed to the position of chief operating officer in early January 2010, after Peter James was hired as chief executive and executive director of the company. The Adcorp Board said they had been pleased with the progress that the company had made under Mellor’s stewardship as COO and looked forward to further improvement of Adcorp’s earnings and new business prospects.
STW teams up with Smollan Group
SYDNEY: STW Communications Group has formed a joint venture with international field marketing company, Smollan group. The joint venture will see all STW field marketing, mystery shopping and customer auditing activities in Australia and New Zealand – both existing and those acquired in the future - undertaken in partnership with Smollan.

SYDNEY: News Magazines has announced the launch of the Vogue International event, Fashion's Night Out - a global Vogue celebration of fashion, on 9 September 2010. The event aims to engage inner-city Sydney retail centres, department stores and designer boutiques, and will be supported by more than $1 million in marketing investment, including outdoor media, print and digital campaigns.
