News Corporation's group sales director will now focus in on NSW, with the company giving Kathryn Carter the nod as its new NSW sales director, replacing Nicola Lewis.

With Carter given the role, her task will be to “drive innovation in News Corp Australia's advertising service and solutions.”.

She will still continue to report into national sales director Sharb Farjami, and News Corp told AdNews that it is not yet clear what the plans were for the role of group sales director.

“Kathryn's extensive experience locally and internationally in a number of media organisations means she's ideally placed to manage our NSW sales operations,” Farjami said.

“We are continually enhancing out product portfolio, and Kathryn's appointment will be instrumental in delivering and positioning this to our agency and client customers.”

The role of NSW sales director has been open since the end of September last year, when Nicola Lewis was poached from News Corp to join GroupM agency Mindshare, becoming the agency's chief investment officer.

News Corp elected not to comment on whether internal or external candidates were considered for the role.

Carter brings with her 11 years of experience in the UK and Australia, working at MediaCom in Australia before making the switch to News Corp in 2013.
