Ten drops MasterChef teaser

As MasterChef readies a return to the small screen for its eighth season, Ten has dropped a teaser video to show what is instore.

Judges Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris are back, along with a spate of other celebrity chefs including Nigella Lawson, Heston Blumenthal, Marco Pierre White, Curtis Stone, Maggie Beer, Kylie Kwong and Luke Nguyen.

MullenLowe picks up global Hyatt account

Hyatt has named MullenLowe its global agency of record after a competitive pitch.

According to AdWeek, it now means the global agency network will handle the creative work for all of the brands under the Hyatt banner.

John Lehmann named editor of The Australian

John Lehmann has been named editor of The Australian, replacing Clive Mathieson who exited the publication last week after five years in the role.

Lehmann is a former editor-at-large at The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph, recently returning to The Australian as deputy editor following the replacement of Chris Mitchell by Paul Whittaker. National chief of staff Petra Rees will replace Lehmann as deputy editor.

Yahoo7 launches new mobile advertising format

Yahoo7 has launched a new mobile advertising format for Android together with Celtra called the Mobile Interscroller with Haptic Feedback. The format is a HTML5 creative and analytics platform for display and video advertising that simulates the sense of touch through mobile phone vibrations.

Kimberley-Clark Australia will be the first to use the technology in Australia for its brand, Snugglers.

Facebook gets on face-swapping

Facebook is following in Snapchat’s face-swapping footsteps, acquiring Masquerade, a face-swapping app.

Masquerade chief executive Eugene Nevgen announced the partnership, saying the platform will deliver its technology to Facebook’s audience of 1.6 billion people.

Samsung re-signs Sally Fitzgibbons

Samsung has re-signed Australian surfing star, Sally Fitzgibbons as brand ambassador. The partnership will see Samsung support the launch of Fitzgibbons’ new fitness app, Train Like Sally, and a series of public appearances including Samsung product launches.

Xaxis launches Xaxis radio in APAC

Xaxis has announced the launch of Xaxis Radio, a programmatic buying product new to the APAC region that allows advertisers to execute at-scale digital radio buys across inventory from more than 90 local broadcasters and Internet radio pure-players including MediaCorp and iRadio networks.

The new product also allows advertisers to reach their target audiences in situations where visual advertising isn't suitable, such as exercising and driving.
