Beer brand hunts for a second agency

Heineken is on the hunt for a second agency to look after its global media planning and buying, according to Adweek.

In 2012 it consolidated work, which was handled by 14 worldwide agency partners, into one relationship, with the Publicis Groupe-owned Starcom Mediavest Group winning the business. When SMG won the business four years ago, it’s thought global spending was about $335 million.

Lawyers file motion to dismiss discrimination suit

Lawyers for JWT, WPP and Gustavo Martinez have filed a motion to dismiss the discrimination suit that hit headlines earlier this year. JWT CEO Gustavo Martinez resigned in March amid the suit which accused him of racist, and sexist comments. Now, according to US trade press, a filing by the firm representing JWT and its parent company, WPP, urges the judge to dismiss the case on the federal, state and city levels.

The 30-page document says global chief communications officer Erin Johnson, who filed the suit against her employer, and her legal team, have failed to prove that she suffered any sort of "materially adverse" consequences due to Martinez's behavior.

Mondelez global CMO heads to AANA Reset

Adshel joins IAB

Adshel has joined the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) as part of its vision to support the development of out of home digital advertising solutions.

The membership follows Adshel's recent effort to boost its digital capabilities and signifying the importance of digital to the outdoor sector.

Adshel sales and marketing director David Roddick says: “The association’s influence and leadership in shaping Australia’s digital economy is second-to-none in this market.”

Media IQ partners with Amobee

London-based ad technology and analytics firm Media iQ has formed a partnership with mobile advertising provider Amobee. Media iQ enables advertisers and agencies to capitalise on the data created on each ad call or website visit in any location across any device. The joint venture agreement will aim to offer mobile location advertising technology to brands in Australia.

Facebook builds out Oculus team

Facebook has recruited a team of virtual reality experts in London, marking the first Oculus division in Europe.

According to the International Business Times, the employee profiles on LinkedIn suggest that in the past six months, Facebook-owned Oculus has bolstered its team of engineers and developers in the UK.

A quick look at Facebook’s career page in Australia also shows it’s looking for an optical process engineer and an optical quality engineer for Oculus.

Pacific unveils new digital destinations

Pacific Magazines has rolled out two new online destinations for Better Homes and Gardens and New Idea. The websites are now designed as a mobile-first platform, with new visual identities, content verticals and social media integration. PacMags CEO Peter Zavecz previously told AdNews the new platforms are “just the start”, saying there's more to come now the publisher owns its digital assets.
