Radio duo ink two-year podcast deal

Despite the pair being set to leave Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) in favour of being in their own TV show, the network's radio darlings Hamish Blake and Andy Lee have now agreed to stay on and create original content for SCA’s podcast platform, PodcastOne. After 13 years of radio, the host's of SCA's Fox FM drivetime show revealed in December last year that they'd leave the business in order to focus on their TV careers. While they agreed to carry on and see out their last year on radio in 2017, it seems the radio network has now managed to keep them on the books. Head of PodcastOne Grant Tothill says Hamish and Andy’s millions of fans won’t miss them as they will produce two series of 40 podcasts in 2018 and 2019, which will be released first on PodcastOne and then on iTunes. Since the podcast of their radio show started, it has had more than a quarter of a billion downloads and in 2017 alone there have been nearly 28 million downloads making it the most successful Australian podcast of all time.
