Brands pull ads from naked dating show

Following complaints by the Parents Television Council (PTC) advocacy group in the US, Mondelez, retailer Hhgregg and Henkel have told VH1 to stop running their ads during the reality show Dating Naked. The show, which is also shown on free-to-air TV in Australia, features a naked duo enjoying dates together. Genitals and breasts are blurred out. According to AdAge, after VH1 ran the first two episodes of the third season of late last month, the PTC reached out to marketers whose ads had appeared and urged them not to support the program. Advertisers claim the spots mistakenly ran.

Clinton: Gotta catch ‘em all

It's not only brands that are jumpoing on the Pokémon bandwagon for attention. On a notice on Hilary Clinton’s event page, the democratic candidate said: “Join us as we go to the Pokestop in Madison Park and put up a lure module, get free pokemon, and battle each other while you register voters and learn more about Sec. Hillary Clinton!!! Kids welcome.” She also mentioned Pokémon at an event, adding: "I'm trying to figure out how we get them to have Pokémon Go to the polls.” See the video here. Check out ‘From memes to marketing: How adland can capitalise on Pokémon Go’.

Big Mobile CEO Graham Christie to exit

Graham Christie, co-founder of Big Mobile, is leaving the business after eight years. He will be replaced as CEO by current chairman David Green for now, with a CEO likely to be appointed in due course. Big Mobile has 80 staff in seven offices across ANZ, and South-East Asia. “Eight years is a long time in any business, and now is the right time to leave the strong senior team I’ve assembled particularly over the past 12 months, to take the business forward, and for me to focus my attention elsewhere. The changing relationship between people and the brands they choose, and subsequently how businesses adapt, continues to really motivate me, so I’m not going far”.
