Fairfax to move out of Pyrmont after 10 years as Google takes over

Fairfax CEO Greg Hywood informed staff this morning that the business would be moving out if its Pyrmont offices at the end of 2019. In an ironic sign of the times, Google will takeover the remaining space. Fairfax has been on Darling Island Road for 10 years. It is now on the hunt for its next destination, which a Fairfax spokesperson tells AdNews will be in or around the CBD. The move aims to "reflect our modern media business", Fairfax tells AdNews. When Fairfax first took up occupancy in the Pyrmont building it filled the entire building. But as news rooms have shrunk over the last decade, Google, has taken over several floors. 

Screen Australia drafts sexual harassment code

Screen Australia has published its final draft of the proposed Code of Conduct to Assist the Prevention of Sexual Harassment. The federal government agency, which is charged with supporting Australian screen development, production and promotion, says after considering further industry feedback, the aim is for all Screen Australia productions approved from 2 April 2018 onwards, to be required to put the code into effect. This means that all people working on a production will need to be made aware of the code and producers will be required to nominate a trained staff member to be a Sexual Harassment Prevention Contact - to address any harassment complaints. Producers will also be required to submit a Code Compliance Report at the conclusion of production, in the form of a statutory declaration, confirming all Code obligations were met.

AMAA ramps up with digital hire

The Audited Media Association of Australia (AMAA) is aiming to ramp up the organisation's digital offering with the hire of ad tech expert Vicki Lyon as chief digital officer. In the past, The AMAA has been criticised by publishers for being behind the times and not advancing alongside the industry in terms of the measurement it offers. This led to a boycott of the AMAA last year, with a slate of publishers pulling out of its audit. Lyon has previously held roles at Ooyala and was the managing director for SpotX between 2011-13. CEO Josanne Ryans believes with Lyon on board the AMAA is better positioned to tackle issues in the industy, from the digital trading ecosystem to brand safety and ad fraud.
