Dick Smith in trading halt

Electronics retailer Dick Smith has been put in a trading halt ahead of an announcement regarding its funding and debt financing.

In an announcement to the market, the retailer noted it expects the halt to end with the start of normal trade tomorrow.

It follows recent troubled financial performance from Dick Smith, with the retailer calling last year “a challenging year” in its 2015 Annual General Meeting.

SCA bolsters digital stations by 18

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has turned on 18 new digital radio stations for regional areas.

The stations are aimed at listeners in regional areas across North Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia, and can be accessed from respective station websites and through apps.

SCA head of regional media Rick Lenarcic said: “We are pleased we can offer local audiences more ways to hear their favourite music and local information”.

“SCA is the number one commercial radio group online and we’re excited we can now bring that offering to a number of our regional markets which may be at risk as we enter into bushfire and cyclone season.”

Adrian Swift to depart ABC

ABC TV head of content and creative Adrian Swift is departing his role at the end of January.

Swift joined the public broadcaster in 2014 and last year was named in the Sydney Morning Herald's top 30 most influential people shaping TV in Australia.

The departure follows the announcement that Singapore-based Google executive Michelle Guthrie will replace current ABC managing director Mark Scott in May of this year.
