US Govt cracks iPhone, drops case

The US government has dropped its legal battle against Apple after managing to break through the iPhone security of San Bernadino gunman Syed Farook. Justice Department lawyers had demanded Apple create operating system software that would allow investigators backdoor entry into its smartphones - a move that Apple resisted. The case pits the right to privacy against national security concerns and is unlikely to be the last of its kind.

Dentsu's Crook promoted to strategy lead

The Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) has promoted Matthew Crook to the role of chief strategy officer and CEO Performance and Data, DAN ANZ. Crook's new role sees him charged with working in conjunction with DAN ANZ CEO, Simon Ryan, on group strategic priorities and direction whilst maintaining his management across programmatic, performance, content and analytics for DAN.

Pocketmath names GM

Pocketmath has confirmed that Jono Smith has been named general manager for the expanded region of Japan, Asia Pacific, Australia and New Zealand. Based in Melbourne, Smith will be responsible for strategic growth, revenue and team development across the region.

Smith joined Pocketmath in September 2015 from Amobee, where he was national sales director.

Sophie Monk joins ARN for integration role

Presenter Sophie Monk is joining ARN for a new role working across integration and content projects on the Kiis Network.

The new commercial role for Monk follows her recently hosting the Summer Fling program with Matty Acton during December.

In addition, Monk will feature on Kiis FM's national 3pm Pick Up show and on selected integration, including a new show to be announced shortly.
