Coles magazine readership breaks 3 million

Coles magazine has retained its position as Australia's most read magazine, with figures released from Roy Morgan today. Coles magazine, which is published by Medium Rare on behalf of Coles, saw its readerships climb to 3.216 million in the last quarter - a 7.5% increase from the previous survey and a 27% increase yoy.

Fairfax eyes tradies' dollars

Fairfax Media has bought a strategic stake in Oneflare, an online digital marketplace for local trade services and a competitor to hipages in which News Corp has a significant stake, reports Business Insider. The media group’s Domain real estate online classifieds business paid $15 million for a 35% interest in Oneflare, which was founded in 2011 and now gets 1.3 million visitors a month.

Fairfax’s voluntary redundancies fall short

Fairfax had been aiming to cut the equivalent of 120 fulltime employees from its Sydney and Melbourne newsrooms as it moves to combat falling print revenues, but it has fallen short of the number of job cuts the publisher had been targeting, reports the Australian. This means the publisher will now move into forced redundancies. Editorial staff who have been granted a redundancy will be told in coming days.

Netflix introduces mobile data controls

Netflix is offering a new tool to help better control how much data the service uses when streaming on cellular networks. The default setting will enable people to stream around three hours of TV shows and movies per gigabyte of data. Read how to set up it up on your phone here.
