Clemenger appoints retail head

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne has appointed its first head of retail, with Pippa O'Regan joining the team. O'Regan joins from .99, a Clemenger Group agency in Auckland, where she was group business director. He new role will see her focused on the Myer account.

Omnicom wins telco

US telco giant AT&T has consolidated its media, creative and digital accounts with Omnicom after a holding-company level review that kicked off in June. According to Ad Age, BBDO will steer creative and Hearts & Science, Omnicom’s launched media agency, will be the new media agency. The brand said the single integrated team allows them to move quickly, innovate at scale and take a data-driven, holistic approach to reaching consumers and businesses. It had been working with WPP's Grey for DirecTV and MEC for Media.

AdBlock Plus works around Facebook's restrictions

Just days after Facebook’s move to block the adblockers, with an update that sees all adblocking software on its desktop website become essentially useless, AdBlock Plus promised that the open source community would have a solution very soon – and it has. After saying in a blog post Facebook had taken “the dark path,” and decided to start forcing adblocking users to see ads on its desktop site, it now says it has a new filter has been added, users of its products just need to update filter lists or manually add the filter. It added: “This time the community seems to have gotten the better of even a giant like Facebook”. It does still add that “this is still a cat-and-mouse game” and Facebook might “re-circumvent” at any time.

Lavender opens Genus Graduate Program for 2017

CX agency Lavender has opened its Genus Graduate Program for 2017 intake. The agency took on five graduates for its 2016 intake from 87 applicants with all five offered permanent full-time positions. Four are still with Lavender today/.

This year the agency is offering another five the opportunity to work across different parts of the business in its Sydney and Melbourne offices. Genus Grads will commence work in January 2017.
