Instagram launches shopping functionality with Country Road and Myer

Instagram has launched its new shopping feature with brands Country Road, Myer and PepperMayo already on board. The new feature allows local brands to directly connect with consumers by tagging products for purchase within posts. The feature has been available in the US since 2017 and will now be rolled out locally as well as in other international markets. Australia will be the first market in APAC to go live with the feature.

Thinkerbell wins Our Watch

Thinkerbell is now the creative agency for advocacy group Our Watch. Our Watch was established to drive nationwide change in the culture, behaviours and power imbalances that lead to violence against women and their children. The appointment will see Thinkerbell work closely with Our Watch's long-established media agency Carat. Our Watch director of marketing and communications Jilly Charlwood said the group was impressed by how Thinkerbell's behaviour change model translated into strong creativity. This is follow a recent spate of wins by the agency which have included Vegemite and Sukin. Read more about Thinkerbell here.

Phillip Thomas named as Cannes Lion chairman

The owner of Cannes Lions, Ascential plc, has appointed Philip Thomas chairman of the festival of creativity, replacing the outgoing Terry Savage, who leaves the position after this year’s festival in June. Thomas is currently CEO of Ascential Events, with previous experience including CEO of Cannes Lions and its associated festivals for ten years. Ascential plc CEO Duncan Painter said Thomas was the obvious choice to step into the role, citing his longstanding knowledge of the brand and industry as key attributes.
