Adobe acquires user-generated content platform

Adobe has set its sights on user-generated content after acquiring content curation platform Livefyre. Livefyre gives brands access to user-generated content that can be streamed in real-time to sites, ads, emails, TV, digital billboards and apps. Adobe plans to build the LiveFyre functionality into content management system Adobe Experience Manager and integrate it across the Adobe Marketing Cloud.

Tony Martin to join Nova breakfast for interim stint

Comedian Tony Martin will be joining the Chrissie, Sam and Browny breakfast show from 9 May as Sam Peng heads to Stockholm to host the Australian coverage of the Eurovision Song Competition. This will mark the eight year that Peng hosts SBS's coverage of the event with co-host Julia Zemiro.

Former ACCC boss on board with Uber

Uber Technologies has appointed the former head of Australia's consumer watchdog, Allan Fels, to its new global advisory board on public policy, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. The new board will seek to influence global debate on transportation issues and other policy areas.

S&P lowers Woolworths’ credit rating

After Woolworths latest bleak sales update, Standard & Poor’s cut its credit rating by one notch, reports the Australian. The ratings agency lowered the retailer’s long-term debt rating from BBB+ to BBB, although its outlook was lifted from ‘negative’ to ‘stable’ as a consequence.

GQ magazine editor resigns

The editor of GQ Australia magazine, Matthew Drummond, has left the position after less than a year in the job, reports the Australian. The former journalist at The Australian Financial Review resigned last week with his departure effective May 20. It is believed he has already left GQ Australia’s head office in Surry Hills after an "abrupt resignation".

Fairfax journalists to be investigated by FWO

Hundreds of Fairfax journalists are being investigated by the workplace watchdog, Fair Work Ombudsman, and face the prospect of individual fines after going on strike after news 120 journalist jobs would be cut, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

FWO has launched an investigation into the journalists' unprotected three-day strike in March, and issued the company with a compulsory order to hand over the names and personal details of the estimated 600 employees involved.

Joel Pearson joins Whybin/TBWA Sydney

Joel Pearson has joined Whybin\TBWA Sydney as its planning director, joining from a 14 month stint as PhD's head of digital innovation.

Pearson had previously worked at Whybin in 2012. Whybin\TBWA chief strategy officer Hristos Varouhas says Pearson “epitomises the modern planning hybrid that will help us ensure clients' brands are kept at the forefront of culture”.
