Naked combines creative and strategy roles, hires from New York

Naked has appointed Izzy DeBellis from New York's kbs to the newly created position of group chief creative and strategy officer, as it looks futher integrate the two roles as part of its full-service strategy.

The combined role is part of Naked's effort to shift from a strategy outfit to full-service creative agency. Under its new model Naked Australia chief executive Carl Ratcliff said the agency will focus on creative and strategy collaborating from the beginning of a brief, which he says is a "superior" way of creating brand solutions.

DeBellis will be based in New York, but will lead the new strategic creativity department across Naked's offices in the US, UK and Australia.

He has more than 20 years experience, holding the role of co-chief creative officer at kbs and was a founding partner of Berling Cameron for more than 12 years.

Speaking of the appointment, Naked and Enero Group chief executive Matt Melhuish said: “Izzy is an example of creative talent who is also a vital contributor to the strategic process, making him perfect for this role. In our view, the true power of both strategy and creative can only be realized by bringing them together and reforming into one department. Under Izzy’s leadership, strategy and creative will collaborate from the start and be jointly responsible for the outcome. This strategic creativity will deliver beautiful strategy and powerful work.”

Ratcliff added that Naked is known for “disrupting orthodoxy” and that the new role relfects an “unorthodox need blooming in Australia for not just integration, but for original talent to imagine strategy and build outstanding execution, simultaneously.”
