NME has launched in Australia, in the publication’s first dedicated channel outside of the UK.

The site will provide daily news and long-form features written by NME’s global team in London and Singapore. It will also feature Australian writers covering the scene on the ground as it builds its local team throughout the new year.

NME, which was established in 1952 in the UK, has been a dominant player in the music and pop culture scene.

“We’re excited to be opening a new platform for Australian artists, both established and emerging, as well as a channel for brands to engage with an audience of music lovers in Australia and globally,” says Meng Ru Kuok, CEO of NME-publisher BandLab Technologies.

“With the launch of our stand-alone brand extension in Australia, our team’s best writers will be shining a spotlight on the artists and stories coming out of one of the world’s most compelling music scenes.”

NME’s push into the market, which will include events throughout 2020, comes as Rolling Stone Australia is set to be revived by The Brag Media next year.
