Movers & Shakers: WPP, CHE Proximity, Twitch

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out the biggest moves in adland this week.

WPP exec departs
Kieran Moore is leaving WPP Australia and New Zealand after 17 years with the holding group. Moore is currently the CEO of PR, GR, experiential and design. She also led internal communications during the move to working from home during the coronavirus crisis. Moore began at WPP AUNZ in 2003 when she joined Howorth.

Ben Shepherd exits CHE Proximity
Ben Shepherd is leaving CHE Proximity after a year as chief media officer. Industry insiders say Shepherd has a "great opportunity" that will be revealed later. He joined the agency in June last year from PwC where he was director of the firm’s media practice and a founding member of its CMO Advisory Practice.

Twitch grows local team
Twitch is growing its Australia and New Zealand sales team with several new hires. Hamish McPhee joins Twitch as an account director for the Victorian and South Australian markets following a nine-year tenure in News Corp’s national sales team in Melbourne, most recently as group sales director. McPhee joins account director Adam Lung and account manager Michael Ison who are in the market managing commercial partnerships across Australia and New Zealand.

The Monkeys names new creative director
The Monkeys have appointed Thomas Marcusson as creative director. Marcusson has a career spanning Sydney, Auckland, Oslo, Paris and London, and has received awards at Cannes, Clio’s and the Effie Awards.

SBS appoints new chair
George Savvides AM has been named as the new SBS chair after serving as deputy chair since 2017. Savvides, who will serve five years in the role takes over from Dr Bulent Hass Dellal AO who finished from the role in June.

Nine’s new group business director
Troy Sokol has been appointed as group business director at Nine. Sokol, who has worked with the media company for more than five years in various roles, was previously head of digital and publishing. He has also worked at REA Group and MEC, now part of Wavemaker.

Mediahub Sydney’s head of digital
Mediahub has appointed Gerry Bowness as head of digital for Sydney. Bowness joins the agency from Publicis Australia, where he was responsible for driving digital evolution across Europe and the Middle East. In his new role, Bowness is tasked with evolving and further growing the digital strategic offering of Mediahub.

FutureBrand CEO buys operations
FutureBrand Australia CEO Rich Curtis has acquired FutureBrand’s Australian operations from Interpublic Group. The new ownership will enable the business to invest locally, while still maintaining its global network via FutureBrand as an affiliate. Since opening its doors in 1999, FutureBrand has created and transformed iconic brands including Nespresso, American Airlines, Coutts, Bhutan, Tourism Australia and the London 2012 Summer Olympics and Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics.
