Movers & Shakers: Nine, Initiative, Bohemia

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out the biggest moves in adland this week. 

Nine continues shakeups
Nine revealed another big appointment since its merger with Fairfax, with current Nine Sydney sales boss Liana Dubois appointed as the new division director of its strategy, insights and content creation team 9Powered. The current leader, Lizzie Young, takes on a larger executive role within Nine as managing director of commercial partnerships. Young's role focuses on managing key partnerships across the group, including Domain and Stan.

Initiative Sydney scraps GM role
Initiative Sydney has axed the general manager role, making Nick Wokes redundant. The business said the move was to allow it to adapt its structure and continue to evolve its competitive position in market. Wokes has previous experience at Zenith, Drifter, Math Media and MediaCom Australia.

Bohemia names new strategy director
Bohemia has appointed James Boardman to the newly appointed role of national strategy director. Boardman comes from GroupM's Wavemaker, where he held the same role for more than two years. He first joined GroupM at MEC in 2011 in London, before relocating to the agency’s Australian office three years later where he was promoted to lead the strategy team. He had been within the WPP network for more than eight years.

Spotify MD takes global role
Spotify Australia managing director Jane Huxley is relocating to London after being promoted to a new global role, heading up Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Huxley has previous experience as ANZ managing director of competitor Pandora. She moved across to Spotify before the demise of Pandora's local operations. Her move marks the second major executive shake-up in the last 12 months, following the departure of its national sales director Andrea Ingham, who has since joined ailing online publisher BuzzFeed.

Top Clemenger NZ boss returns to Australia
Managing partner at Clemenger Group in New Zealand, Vanessa Nicol, has returned to Australia to take up the CHE Proximity Sydney MD role. Nicol, who has been in her Auckland-based Clemenger role for nearly three years, fills a hole left by CHE's David Halter, who was promoted to chief strategy officer last year.

GroupM names new global president
GroupM named Brian Wieser as global president of business intelligence. In his new role he will work with GroupM's agencies and WPP's broader network to gather, analyse and distribute “actionable marketplace intelligence” to provide clients insight on markets, audiences, partners and platforms. He starts his role this week and reports to global CEO Kelly Clark. Wieser has previous experience at Pivotal Research Group.

WPP hires digital transformation specialist
WPP has named Adam Good as executive director of marketing technology. Good comes from Dentsu, where he was chief digital officer for more than two years. He previously worked at Telstra Proximity Worldwide and Clemenger BBDO. He begins his newly created role immediately.

Sizmek bolsters senior team
Sizmek has added two senior executives to help expand the business' operations in the APAC region. Paul Kent has been appointed commercial director for APAC and Heidi Monro as sales director for NSW. It's the first senior hires under the leadership of Sizmek’s APAC general manager Peter Hunter, who joined the company in November 2018. Kent has more than 15 years of experience across both agency and publishers. Monro has more than six years of experience at MCN.

Clemenger BBDO names new head of PR
Clemenger BBDO has confirmed the appointment of Nick Zonnios as head of PR across the agency's Melbourne and Sydney offices. Zonnios has previous experience at ANZ, BP, Officeworks and Origin Energy. He has been with the agency for more than 18 months.

Clemenger BBDO builds diversity
Clemenger BBDO welcomes its latest batch of recruits from its 'Exception to the Rule' programme. The programme is the agency's annual search for diverse talent, with 12 people offered placement from more than 200 applications this year. The recruitments this year includes an interior designer, a theatre director, food writer, commerce student, fashion blogger and art history major.

Nova adds new digital audio roles
Nova revealed two new specialist digital audio roles to leverage opportunities in podcasting and digital audio. Ben McMillan has been appointed to the newly created role of head of digital audio and Elizabeth Maplestone takes on the new role of digital audio specialist. McMillan has 12 years of media sales experience, first joining Nova Entertainment in 2013 as Melbourne senior sales executive. Maplestone has more than 13 years of experience in media, first joining Nova Entertainment in 2011.

AnalogFolk hires ex-DDB exec
Creative agency AnalogFolk announced Richard Morgan as executive creative director, joining partners Matt Robinson and Ben Hourahine to lead the business in Australia. His hire comes off the back of big wins for the agency, including TAL Insurance and Unibet. Morgan has previously worked at 303 MullenLowe, DDB Sydney and BMF.

Columbus adds two senior roles
Performance marketing agency Columbus, a Merkle Company, has created two new national performance director roles. Michael Helms and David Rossi, who have both been with the business for five years, have been promoted to the national roles to further bolster the agency’s capability in performance marketing.

GPJ promotes 
Caleb Bush has been promoted SVP of GPJ Australia and MD of Project ANZ. Bush first joined the experiential and activations agency in 2009 and moved into the general manager role in 2012. He was then elevated to MD in 2016.

Pollinate expands into Melbourne
Sydney-based research and brand strategy consultancy Pollinate has expanded into Melbourne, with Allan Dib to lead as managing director. Dib has 25 years of experience across the globe, including time at P&G, MediaCom and Ipsos. He returned to his hometown of Melbourne 18 months ago after more than 15 years in London and New York.
