The industry body for newspapers, The Newspaper Works, has announced the finalists for the Newspaper of the Year awards and it seems that while every newspaper can't be a winner they sure are a finalist. Papers not on the list should probably be worried.

In the category Newspaper of the Year for the daily, metropolitan and national newspapers the finalists are as follows: The Herald Sun, New Zealand Herald, The Advertiser, The Age, The Australian, The Australian Financial Review, The Courier-Mail, The Daily Telegraph, The Sydney Morning Herald, The West Australian.

The finalists in the Weekend Newspaper of the Year are: The Sunday Herald Sun, Sunday Mail (QLD), The Saturday Age, The Saturday Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Age, The Sunday Telegraph, The Sunday Times (WA), The Sydney Morning Herald Weekend, The Weekend Australian, The Weekend Financial Review, Weekend Herald (NZ).

The winners of The Newspaper of the Year awards will be announced on August 21 at a gala night at The Ivy in Sydney.

The finalists for the other categories can be found here.
