More than two dozen communications agencies are eagerly awaiting the decision by Barangaroo as to who will be charged with selling the project to Sydneysiders and overseas tourists, with a decision to be made as early as tomorrow AdNews understands.

The shortlist for the project which will have a panel covering Design Services, PR, Digital Media, Writing, Creative Engagement and Photography, features over 30 agencies including Droga 5, Leo Burnett, McCann World Wide and RG/A Media Group.

The project, which is being developed by Lend Lease, has not been without controversy with 1000 workers walking off the job last month in protest against the suspension of a union delegate earlier this year.

The development of Sydney's second casino by James Packers Crown Casino group has also been criticised by anti-gambling campaigners.

The Barangaroo foreshore will feature the casino, residential and commercial buildings and the the area will be opened in a staged process with the project estimated for full completion in 2023.
