Melissa Doyle has announced she is departing Seven after 25 years with the network.

The presenter, who hosted Sunrise from 2002 to 2013, when she was replaced by Samantha Armytage, most recently hosted The Latest.

In a statement this morning, Doyle didn’t confirm the reason behind her departure but said she was “sad to be leaving”.

“For half of my life I have called Channel Seven home and in that time I’ve had the privilege to share stories that mattered, meet incredible people and report on some of the greatest moments in history,” she said in the statement.

“I am incredibly proud of the work I have done and so grateful to have worked with some of the very best in my industry.”

In addition to Sunrise, Doyle has also worked at programs such as Today Tonight, Seven News, Sunday Night.

“I want to thank the consummate professionals I have worked with along the way, and in particular our Chairman Kerry Stokes for his constant support,” she says.

“Whilst I am sad to be leaving, I do so with a great deal of pride, satisfaction and gratitude. Every ending is a beginning and I’m excited for what comes next.”

She joins a list of high-profile TV presenters that have departed their roles. Last week Ten announced a round of redundancies that led to the exit of Studio Ten presenters Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Natarsha Belling, as well as weatherman Tim Bailey.
