MediaCom is tipped to retain the media account for Shell, following a global review of both its media and creative agencies.

According to The Drum, Shell is also expected to appoint Chime Communications-owned VCCP and Dentsu to handle global creative and Omnicom’s Doremus will handle B2B creative services.

A representative from Shell said the pitch process, which is being managed by consultancy R3, is still underway and an official decision has not yet been made.

In Australia, MediaCom's Melbourne office handles Shell's domestic media buying and planning, while global creative was led by JWT offices abroad.

The shift will come as a blow to WPP with Shell's roster shifting from a sole relationship with the holding company to now include four holding companies on its roster.

The global account is estimated to be worth AU$250 million in annual billings and has been with WPP for the past 20 years. Some of its more famous recent campaigns include the Shell 'Shapeshifter' and #MakeTheFuture.

In Australia, the account is estimated to be around $3.5 million in annual billings.

MediaCom declined to comment.
