Woolies to bring programmatic buying in house

Supermarket giant Woolworths is set to launch its own sharemarket-like advertising trading exchange, The Australian Financial review has reported. Woolworths will undertake the initiative with Quantium the data-analytics firm that it owns a 50% share in.

Daily Mail and Mi9 partnership on the rocks?

The Australian operation of the Mail Online and its publishing partner, Nine Entertainment Co’s digital arm, Mi9, nearly ended their partnership The Australian reports. The relationship was saved after a series of meetings which saw Nine agree to reduce its 25% commission fee to 15%.

Nova Entertainment sells out of streaming 

Also in The AFR, Nova Entertainment has sold out of its 50% partnership with streaming service Rdio. The joint venture was said to have ended at the close of last year, with Nova's CEO Cathy O'Connor telling the AFR that the company has reprioritised its investments.

Greste released from Egypt

Jailed Al-Jazeera journalist Peter Greste has walked free from the Egyptian prison he was held in for 400 days, The Australian reports. Fellow Al-Jazeera reporters sentenced with Greste, Canadian-Egyptian Mohamed Fahmy and Egyptian Al-Jazeera colleague Baher Mohamed, are yet to be released.

Netflix secures Disney content in OZ

Also in The Australian, US streaming video-on-demand service Netflix has confirmed it has struck a deal with The Walt Disney Company for Australian SVOD rights. The deal sees the US streaming player gain streaming access to the highly anticipated block busters such as Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens, and Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron, which will be available in 2016.
