MasterChef has taken out the top spot in all key demographics overnight, drawing in an audience of 821,000 viewers.

Australian Ninja Warrior has been knocked from the primetime slot for the first time, after tying with House Rules for top spot on Monday night.

Ten's reality cooking show went head-to-head with Nine's ailing entertainment program for the first time, with Seven airing its 30 year special of Home and Away in the primetime slot.

Ninja suffered another drop off in ratings last night, as the show struggles to find its balance, with 817,000 viewers tuning in.

The episode was the lowest audience to date and is struggling to match the rating average of last year's season.

Endless Summer: 30 years of Home and Away drew in 605,000 viewers.

Despite the dethroning of Ninja from the top spot, Nine still nabbed the win in the overnight main channel audience share, with 22.5%.

The network had a 5% lead on its rival Seven, which took a 17.5% share, while Ten came in third with 14.2%.
