Le Coq Sportif sparks conversation with high tech shoes

Sports brand Le Coq Sportif is taking a nostalgic look back at the good old days when conversations didn’t have a character limit and you couldn’t reject somebody Tinder-style with a swipe to the left.

Everyone is glued to their phone these days so the brand has created the Sole Mate Experience, tapping into wearable technology, to show how tech can spark real life interactions and conversations.

The promo video for its Eclat shoe range shows young people in a store trying on the shoes as a result of a Facebook competition. Little do they know the shoes have been fitted with devices that “speak” to each other when they come into close contact with the partner shoe. So when the shoppers get close to each other inside the store, to their surprise, the shoes vibrate.

There’s nothing like striking up a conversation through the shared experience of a low-voltage shock.
