Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health Australia and New Zealand has appointed Omnicom Group as its lead agency following a competitive review.

The newly created Omnicom Group multi-disciplined team will provide services including creative, media, digital, public relations, healthcare, social and shopper marketing.

It will draw talent from across Omnicom’s ANZ suite of agencies and sit within DDB Group.

The appointment spans the Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health Australia and New Zealand extensive portfolio of brands, including Neutrogena, Codral, Johnson’s, Nicorette, Listerine, Carefree and Aveeno.

Omincom's OMD previously held the Johnson & Johnson $25 million media account for nine years before losing it to IPG Mediabrands' agency UM in 2015.

At the time, UM set up a dedicated division J3 for the multinational company.

Wunderman Thompson previously held creative duties for a number of Johnson & Johnson's brands.

"The team at Wunderman Thompson is incredibly proud of the creative work executed with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health ANZ over the past 15-plus years," a Wunderman Thompson spokesperson told AdNews.

"We wish J&J well as it moves to a new consolidated model of service provision and thank their team for the successful partnership.’

Last year, Johnson & Johnson scrapped its global chief marketing officer role to "streamline" its business.
