Instagram has launched a suite of new business tools that make it easier for advertisers to stand out and create and analyse advertising on the platform.

A new mobile ad creation tool that allows advertisers to quickly turn well-performing posts into ads.

The ad creation process is designed to take only a few taps, which means that it doesn’t allow more sophisticated functionality like uploading emails for targeting or creating a landing page pixel.

However, advertisers will still be able to use Facebook data to define audiences via gender, age, location and interests.

Instagram global head of business and brand development explained that the platform has grown to 200,000 advertisers and half of Instagram users follow at least one business on the platform.

Instagram ads are expected to bring in $1.53 billion in revenue in 2016, around 15% of Facebook's total ad sales, and is viewed by Facebook top brass as a growing area of the business.

Small- to medium-sized businesses make up the bulk of advertisers on the Facebook-owned platform.

From today, businesses will have the ability to create business profiles that make it easier for customers to to reach them via phone calls, email or text with one tap. The profiles can also include directions information, such as a map.

These new features are only available to users who have a business presence on Facebook.

Instagram has confirmed it is also launching Insights, allowing businesses more power to monitor how well posts are performing. This includes analysis on top posts, reach, impressions and engagement as well as audience data metrics.
