Ikon Communications has finished the year on a high, taking on another $40 million in billings after pinching Flight Centre from Carat following a two-month stoush.

The news was confirmed this morning, and although it is understood a couple of other agencies were involved in the pitch, Flight Centre is hesitant to give out details on the process.

Ikon won the brand through its Brisbane office, with it to handle the marketing and media buying for the travel specialists.

The account includes Flight Centre along with Escape Travel, Student Flight, Cruiseabout, Travel Associates and My Adventure Store.

It is understood Flight Centre has been with Carat for a decade.

It rounds off a positive 2014 for Ikon, which notably held on to its Commbank account back in October, while it also took out smaller wins toward the back end of the year including Wiggle and yellow tail wines.

Ikon will start work on the account in February.
