Host has picked up Australia’s only winning entry in the Entertainment Lions, for its #AirlineWager for Air New Zealand and Qantas.

The campaign saw both national airlines in a wager over the outcome of the rugby world cup, which featured both of their respective countries. It won a Silver Lion in the category.

The grand prix was awarded to Vrse Works LA for its virtual reality (VR ) work with The New York Times.

The Entertainment for Music Lions were also announced, with Australia picking up no awards in the category. Two grand prix were awarded in the category with Jung von Matt Hamburg winning for Home for Christmas for Edeka and PrettyBird for Beyonce’s music video, Formation.

Jury president and Grey EVP director of music Josh Rabinowitz says that the development of new categories is a process that often takes some time, but that the jury are able to award two grand prix would help “accelerate” the growth of the category.

“We felt that because music is so important, it is trending in many aspects in the branded world this day that accelerating that process would be essential,” Rabinowitz says.

Both awards are part of new specialist event at the festival Lions Entertainment.
