GoPro – makers of camera equipment which turns amateur filmmakers into professional content makers, is opening up a licensing platform of imagery and footage accessible to marketers and brands.

GoPro has been making a household name for itself out of headquarters in the States for the last few years. It unveiled its first Super Bowl spot last year which showed a short clip of skydiver Felix Baumgartner's 24-mile plunge to the earth, sponsored by Red Bull. The company’s tagline is: “Be A Hero.”

The licensing portal aims to offer high production value content, all accessible from one source. The company says it will “eliminate the pain points” creatives have when sourcing content by helping to clear copyrights and likeness rights.

“The high-end offering is all about inspiring creative professionals to use beautiful imagery, incredible stories, and rich data created by GoPro and GoPro creators,” said the company.

However, above and beyond that, it says the main driver for the new launch is to reward the GoPro community with an avenue which could drive sales.

Marketers can apply here to get access to content.
