Get in shape for Oktoberfest, Bavarian style

By AdNews | 29 August 2014

Like beer? Then you'll love Oktoberfest. Which starts in Oktober October September.

That's right, Urban Purveyor Group, purveyors of teutonic liquid nectar, are drumming up business for the celebration of beer that's so good, it starts early, traditionally running for 16 days in late September until the first Sunday in October.

Ahead of that, the group - which owns Bavarian Bier Cafés, The Argyle, Saké Restaurant & Bar, The Cut Bar & Grill, Löwenbräu Keller, Ananas Bar & Brasserie, Swine & Co and Munich Brauhaus -  launches a tongue in cheek online video ad on Monday via Channel Zero.

Marketing director Daniel Hopkirk, who appears to be on the hunt for a marketing manager, said going digital first with a content-led campaign was “rare for a hospitality group of our size, and an indication of the moving consumer engagement trends.”

The Bavarians take their beer seriously and the ad shows two Aussies taking the looming marathon session seriously, achieving peak fitness with the help of two buxom fraulines.

Potential participants have three weeks to get in shape. Oktoberfest starts 19 September as far as Urban Purveyor Group is concerned.
