GE hires Jeff Goldblum to play Jeff Goldblum in ad about how lighting helped him be the great Jeff Goldblum

Jeff Goldblum in GE's latest spot

GE continues to keep things fresh in the marketing department. The US giant has reinvented itself in recent years with a string of clever content campaigns. But only time will tell whether they've done a great job with its latest offering – which features a shirtless Jeff Goldblum playing a piano while in a hot tub.

You read that correctly.

Pitched more as an awareness play of its GE Link lighting system, the ad features the cult actor re-uniting with the creative team behind the "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!", Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim.

In the fake infomercial, Goldlum, playing what we suspect it a super-suave version of himself, tells viewers how he has largely lived the super-rich, super-famous lifestyle thanks to good lighting.

Enter GE's Link Lighting Solutions.

The lightbulbs themselves can be linked to a central hub, which in can be controlled by smartphone.

The ad, which turns up the hilariously-weird factor synonymous with Tim and Eric, is sure to generate tons of clicks and shares in the next few days as people try to figure out what they actually just saw.
