Freeview plots big push two days before subscription TV's big bash

Freeview will kick off its biggest TV marketing push in six years tonight for the launch of FreeviewPlus, a new offering which includes a revised EPG, easier access to Catch-Up programmes and a recommendation guide.

Billed as a 'world-first' for Australia, the service will come in-built on new TVs manufactured by Sony and LG and retailed by Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, JB Hi-Fi, Myer, Bing Lee, Dick Smith and David Jones.

The new service will go live tonight, backed by a campaign created by It's The Thought That Counts, and will run until Christmas. The new TVs will arrive in stores simultaneously.

The push comes two days before the subscription TV lobby kicks off its annual conference.
