IPG Mediabrands branded content arm Ensemble Australia has appointed Scott Barnes from Ikon Communications as it seeks to beef up its presence in not just sporting events, but all events.

Barnes was the head of STW group sports and sponsorship business Subnine, which was folded into Ikon in 2012.

Barnes’ primary client leadership role was on Qantas where he was responsible for the airline’s sport sponsorship portfolio.

Those relationships included the Australian Rugby Union, British and Irish Lions, Football Federation of Australia, Cricket Australia, the Australian Grand Prix, Major League Baseball & Australian Olympic & Para-Olympic Committees.

His role included contract negotiations and the delivery of commercially viable business solutions.

Barnes will become Ensemble's head of partnerships, with his mandate to accelerate the agency's client relationships with rights holders, major event operators, and media owners.

“Scott brings us a wealth of experience in sports and entertainment sponsorships that will help build on the great momentum we currently have in this space,” Ensemble CEO Justin Ricketts said.

“Partnerships are a key business focus for Ensemble in 2015 and we have many exciting new clients and initiatives to announce across the next few months”
