SYDNEY: DDB Sydney executive creative director Matt Eastwood is leaving the agency to become chief creative officer at DDB New York.

Eastwood hasn't been replaced yet and will remain in Sydney for the next three months while a recruitment process is undertaken. Staff were told of Eastwood's departure at an all staff meeting last night.

He replaces Eric Silver, who will be taking on creative responsibilities for DDB's business development efforts in the US, working with director of new business development, Brandon Snow.

Marty O Halloran,  DDB Group chairman and chief executive of DDB Australia and New Zealand, said: “Matt has been an instrumental figure at DDB Sydney over the last four years, guiding the agency to win countless awards and accolades.

“Matt’s passion for the industry has resulted in pioneering work across some of DDB’s biggest brands including McDonald’s, Telstra and Tourism Australia.”

The recruitment of a new ECD for the Sydney office is being led by O’Halloran and DDB Group managing director, Chris Brown.

Brown said “We are looking for a leader that will continue to inspire the wealth of creative talent at DDB as well as put their own stamp on the agency and ensure that we continue to be at the top of our field.”

Eastwood said: “When I met with Senior Management at DDB New York, I was thrilled to discover how similar our culture and values actually were.

“DDB is a global family, and I am both excited and humbled that DDB has honoured me with the opportunity to help shape the creative product at DDB New York, our head office.”
