Domain has appointed Christopher Blok as its new programmatic sales director.

The move by the online classified business, which is majority-owned by Nine, is part of its plans to improve programmatic advertising capabilities following its transition to a full programmatic offering last year.

Blok had previously been SpotX’s country manager for five years and has 15 years’ experience across the media and digital industry.

In his new role he joins Domain’s adtech team to lead its commercial development and programmatic offering in the market. He’s also tasked with building out Domain’s media business and growing its programmatic and sales and account management teams.

Shannon Fitzpatrick, Domain’s programmatic and adtech director, says Blok’s appointment comes at a “critical time” for the business.

“Our ambition has also been to build on Domain’s media advertising capabilities, and Christopher’s deep understanding of the industry made the decision to bring him on board a natural one,” Fitzpatrick says.

“This is certainly an exciting time for the property industry — and for Domain as a business — and we’re thrilled to have Christopher join the team.”

Blok, who will report to Fitzpatrick, has also previously worked at Optus, News Corp Australia and Brandscreen.

“I’ve always been passionate about property, and am thrilled to be joining a company with such strong heritage and a significant digital footprint,” Blok says.

“With Domain’s recent transition to a programmatic model, there is a huge opportunity for the business and our partners to connect with a highly engaged audience. I look forward to leading the team as we grow the programmatic offering out in the market.”
