Carlton & United Breweries' top marketer Peter McLoughlin is stepping down from the top spot. Richard Oppy, currently GM of Carlton, will take over the day to day leadership of the marketing team in the interim.

McLoughlin, who is leaving for personal and health reasons, will leave CUB on 1 September.

He has also worked for the brewer's parent company SABMiller in South Africa and Latin America.

CUB’s chief operations officer Mike Walsh said McLoughlin's energy, positive approach, broad business acumen and loyalty will be “sorely missed”.

“We of course support Peter’s decision and wish he and his family well and hope he has a speedy recovery,” he said.

The brewer plans to recruit for a replacement immediately.
