Independent agency Core has appointed its first managing director off the back of winning the creative account for the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation.

Jane Callister has bee promoted to the role of MD and will lead the day-to-day operations, business development and client management of the business.

Callister joined Core as business director in 2014 and has previously worked in leadership roles at M&C Saatchi, Whybin\TBWA, DDB and The Campaign Palace.

Core creative partner Christian Finucane says the newly created role is a result of the recent growth the agency has experienced.

“The past 12 months have been exceptional for us in terms of new business and creative work that is delivering impressive returns for our clients,” Finucane says.

“So the the time is right for us to put in place a managing director to help us navigate Core’s next chapter as we continue to scale. Fortunately for us we didn’t have to look far to find the right talent to help make that happen.”

In addition, it scooped work for the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) following a creative pitch with two other agencies.

It is the largest union in Australia and represents nurses, midwives and assistants in nursing.

Core's new remit will see it develop a new campaign highlights aged care issues to boost membership.

Core creative partner Jon Skinner says: “The ANMF represent a group of amazing people that are critical to ensuring the health and wellbeing of all Australians at some point in their lives.

"We’re looking forward to help them raise awareness of the issues confronting their members, as well as attracting new people working in the industry to join them.”
