Coca-Cola celebrates Christmas with kindness

By AdNews | 2 December 2014

Coca-Cola, the company which famously helped design the modern image of Santa, has finally released its global Christmas campaign in Australia.

The television commercial “Make Someone Happy” is based on the idea of doing a random act of kindness over the festive period. A man gives a woman an umbrella, someone else draws silly faces on cars parked out in the snow and – of course – a boy surprises a pretty girl at the train station with a bottle of Coke.

Coca-Cola has been running advertisements featuring Santa Claus since the 1920s and things aren't about to change 90 years later, with the big guy making an appearance early on in the piece. And for all of us old enough to remember the 1995 Coca-Cola “Holidays Are Coming” adverts, the latest Christmas campaign also manages to sneak a glimpse of the famous, branded Coke trucks.

The ad is shown in both 30'' and 60'' formats in cinema and TV from November 24 until Christmas Eve. It follows a recent summer branding push by Coca-Cola Australia which saw it launch a range of coloured coke cans in November.
