CHE Proximity, the Melbourne-based digital and data agency, will open a Sydney shop in 2016, AdNews understands.

The agency is understood to be gearing up to open its doors in January 2016 as the first stage of an expansion plan that could also see it open in another location.

Ant White is thought to be coming on board as executive creative director of the Sydney office, returning from a stint at Droga5 New York. He formerly worked at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne alongside Chris Howatson who runs CHE.

It’s not yet known what the Sydney’s shop’s founding client will be but it already works with companies including Foxtel, Mazda, GR and the ICC.

The agency is data and digitally driven and its website says it combines data, technology and customer experience with disruptive content to change consumer behaviours and deliver commercial return for clients. It operates under the mission “Introducing Commercial intelligence”.

In October CHE launched a startup division called Spotfire to work with startups that need to tap into the capabilities the agency can offer. The unit is led by Tommy McCubbin.

CHE also launched a data program after doing a deal with US data firm Annalect to provide clients a single customer view across owned, earned and bought media. It is the first agency in Australia to work with Annalect.

CHE Proximity declined to comment on the formation of a Sydney shop.
