CHE Proximity has hired Clemenger BBDO Melbourne's David Klein as its new executive creative director effective immediately.

Klein's new role at Clemenger-owned CHE Proximity is effective immediately. He has 19 years experience in the industry and was most recently at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne as creative director, a role he has held since August last year. Prior to that, he was the inaugural ECD of BMF's Melbourne operation.

Clemenger BBDO creative chairman James McGrath said Klein will “continue to drive CHE Proximity forward” in his new role.

‘‘Dave is an evangelist of commercial creativity,” McGrath said. “He cares deeply about the business problem and is motivated to seek new and innovative ways to creatively solve problems for our clients.

His appointment follows the departure of current ECD Leon Wilson, who has left to pursue new interest. Wilson was appointed to the post in October 2013.

CHE Proximity MD Chris Howatson said Wilson's 18 months at the agency has been instrumental to its growth.

“I'd like to personally thank Leon for his tireless efforts and wish him the very best
in his next step,’’ said Howatson.

“His contribution to the agency has both made the work better and been a significant factor behind the agency's rapid growth.”
