A shake-up of Seven West's management structure has claimed chief operating officer Nick Chan, after just 14 months in the role.

Seven West Media confirmed the change last night as part of a broader program of cost savings it has been trying to achieve on the back of what it sees as a declining advertising market.

At the company's annual general meeting last month, it forecast the advertising market for the 2015 financial year to be flat to negative after preivously tipping slight growth.

As part of a new management structure, CEO Tim Worner will retain direct management of Seven West's television business and a new director of television will be appointed to report to Worner.

Meanwhile, Peter Zavecz has been appointed as CEO of Pacific Magazines, while the responsibility for the online delivery of content will sit with Clive Dickens, who was recently appointed chief digital officer, from Austereo, and joins next month.

As a result of the shake-up, the role of chief operating officer has been shed, along with Chan's job.

"The new management structure streamlines reporting lines and responsibilities and is part of our ongoing plan of driving greater efficiencies and integration across our business as well as focusing on what we do best: creating content and delivering that content to our audiences anywhere anytime,” Worner said in a statement.

While Chan had been COO for 14 months, he had been with Seven West Media for a decade, focusing primarily on Pacific Magazines.

“Seven and especially Pacific Magazines have been a special part of my life," Chan said. "I feel privileged and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a talented, dedicated and passionate group of people”.

There is no word yet on Chan's next move, however it is believed he is currently taking some time out to mull over his next career decision.
